This week I made an animated chart of butterflies! These are all butterflies that you can find throughout North America, and I picked the 42 that I thought were the most colorful and unique.

You can check out the full sized GIF here or pick up a poster for your room here :)

Patrick, known as inkaxis, is an 18 year old digital artist from Australia. He got his start making GIF art and 3D animations around the end of 2013 and has quickly garnered attention in Tumblr’s Cinema 4D community for his modern, geometric, and vibrant creations. When asked about what influenced him to start making digital art, Patrick said:

“I already had had a basic understanding of 3D animation and GIF-making, but I had never really tried making GIF art before. It wasn’t until I saw the works of other GIF-artists that I was inspired to play around with it myself. I remember in the beginning, it was just a way to experiment and learn more about 3D animation, but eventually I got swept away by the different styles and types of GIFs there are. It is something which has always motivated me and kept me in a state of awe.”

Some of Patrick’s favorite artists include Guillaume Kurkdjian, Hayden Zezula, Matthias Brown and Mathew Lucas.

I’m Not A Joke (No Soy Tu Chiste) was begun in Venezuela on January 23, 2013 by writer, illustrator, and activist Daniel Arzola (@Arzola_d) It became the first Venezuelan viral campaign that through art raised awareness of the prejudice and violent acts performed against the LGBTI community around the world. Within only 6 months of its creation the campaign has reached more than a million people in more than thirty countries including Russia, where it is used today illegally as a tool for human rights protests. Today, the campaign is available in Spanish, Portuguese, and English, and holds 50 illustrated posters that through the psychology of color illustrate matters dealing with same-sex marriage, gender roles, bullying, and a variety of other current social issues. It has become viral on Facebook, Tumblr, and Twitter.
